FERNDALE, Jan. 19 -- The field is complete for the curling Junior Nationals at Detroit Curling Club Jan 27-Feb 3. Ten men's and ten women's teams will compete for championships and the right to represent the United States at Worlds.
The field features 2017 junior champions and world silver medalists Team Stopera, who will test their mettle as they aspire for 2022 Olympics. On the women's side, 2017 champion skip Annemarie Dubberstein returns with two of last year's rink-mates and a new skip.
Opening Ceremonies are at 1:00 pm Saturday (Jan 27) and the competition begins at 4:00 pm. It continues until Saturday, Feb 3, with the finals at 1:30 pm. From Sunday through Thursday, curling action begins at 8:00 am and continues with draws at noon, 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. The round robin winds up Friday morning and the top four teams advance to a Page playoff.
The winners will represent the United States at Junior World Championships in Aberdeen, Scotland, Mar. 3-11.
Tickets are $10 for the day and $50 for the entire week.
Team Stopera's coach is Detroit Curling Club member Mark Lazar.
