The Detroit Curling Club Royal Order of Sinners men's club promotes fellowship and camaraderie on and off the ice while creating benefits and lasting experiences.

About the Sinners

The Detroit Curling Club Royal Order of Sinners organized in 1951.  The Detroit Curling Club Royal Order of Sinners men's club promotes fellowship and camaraderie on and off the ice while creating benefits and lasting experiences. Several Sundays during the curling season, the Sinners hold morning meetings.  For a nominal fee, participants indulge in a hearty breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, mushrooms, and toast.  Finger foods and eye-opening libations are served while the meal is being prepared.  Stories, jokes, truths, and lies are shared and enjoyed during the meal.  Following breakfast, the Sinner's Hymn, "Softly and Tenderly," fills the air and lifts the spirits.  A bountiful raffle that consists of donations provided by meeting attendees is held following breakfast.  On occasion, a special item comes into the possession of the Sinner's and a lively auction follows.  Proceeds from the breakfasts, raffles, and auctions are channeled back into The Club.  Two of the Sinner's events are open to both male and female participants.  Entry into the Sinners occurs after a man attends three meetings and brings an item for the raffle table to his third meeting.

Kitchener-Waterloo Granite/Detroit Curling Exchange
A Curling Tradition Since 1917

Beginning in 1917 an annual exchange began between the Detroit Curling Club and the Kitchener-Waterloo curling Club. The Plattsville Curling Club participation began later and they now host this event with the KW Granite Club when Detroit Curlers travel to Canada. When the Exchange began, travel entailed horses, trains and boats - at least a week long adventure. Fortunately, this is now a weekend event.

A more detailed description of The Exchange as well as photos of exchanges through the decades can be viewed at: http://kwgranite.com/exchange/
